At 01:34 on March 3rd, 2021 Grand Junction Regional Communication Center dispatched the Grand Junction Fire Department and Grand Junction Police Department to the area of 25 ½ Rd. and Forest Hills Ave. for a house on fire, two callers reporting large flames east of the intersection in the neighborhood, unknown exact address. Companies responding to the fire were still without an exact address as dispatch gave their enroute update and gave the initial intersection as reference point. GJPD officers arriving the area reported smoke was further east than that intersection and gave an updated address of 600 Silver Oak Drive with a fully involved residential structure. Engine 3 arrived on-scene, reporting a single-family, single-story residence, fire through the roof and declared a working fire. Engine 3 pulled a line for fire attack and established command. Ambulance 3 arrived, assisted with water supply establishment from the plug at the Alpha-Bravo corner, and was assigned medical group. Police officers on scene forced entry through the front door, looking and listening for any victims that may have been inside the home but were unable to locate any victims. Incoming PD units were asked to canvas the area for persons on foot that may have been related to the fire as a precaution. At 01:44 a command staff notification was requested for a working structure fire. Truck 6 arrived as the second-in company, assisted with water supply, and was assigned search on the delta side. Captain 3’s 360 revealed heavy fire involvement in the main part of the structure. Engine 2 arrived and pulled a second line off Engine 3 and assisted with fire attack on the Charlie side. Truck 1 staged west and was assigned on-deck as RIT. Battalion 1 arrived at 01:48, noted heavy attic involvement, checking in with command for conditions and actions and took over command. Truck 6 made entry into the garage and noted a single vehicle inside, unknown occupancy interior. Engine 2 assessed windows for Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search potential. Truck 6 reported an all clear on the primary search and began fire attack from the interior. Attack group was unable to get conversion on the fire and Battalion 1 moved to defensive operations at approximately 02:00 hours with an aerial master stream from Truck 6.  Dispatch was able to contact the homeowner who confirmed the residence should be vacant and the resident was out of town. Engine 5 dropped a 5-inch line from the south hydrant into Engine 3 for water supply. The cause is under investigation, there were no injuries, and the house was a complete loss.
