South Metro Fire Rescue on and off-duty personnel gathered at Station 23 to “push-in” their brand-new fire engine on September 24th, 2022.

Engine 23 is a 2022 Pierce Velocity with a 1500 gallon per minute pump and a 750-gallon water tank. It’s equipped with hundreds of feet of various diameter hoses, a compliment of hand tools, vehicle stabilization and extrication equipment, a chainsaw and emergency medical supplies. Engine 23 is staffed with a crew of 4 personnel including an officer (Captain or Lieutenant), an Engineer who drives and operates the vehicle and 2 Firefighters. This new engine replaces a 2012 Pierce Saber which is now serving as a reserve, meaning it fills in at fire stations when their front-line vehicle is at the shop for service.
