On September 18th, 2022 at 02:24 Jeffcom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a possible structure fire at the Soda Lakes Lodge, 12959 W. Hampden Ave. near Bear Creek Lake Park. Engine 9 advised that flames were showing from Station 9, which is up to a mile and a half away. District 2 arrived to a fully involved detached camper in the RV park under power lines. Engine 9 arrived and pulled 1 3/4 for fast attack with Rescue 10. With limited fire hydrants, two tenders were requested as well as two brush trucks for possible exposure in the grass area. Engine 11 and Engine 12 arrived and supplied their tank water to Engine 9. Engine 11 started protection to other motorhomes, and Brush 13 arrived and started fire attack on the grass fire. The fire was put under contol at 02:45 and crews started overhaul. The cause of the RV fire was while refueling a generator and some fuel spilled. When the generator was started, it back fired and ignited the spilled fuel. The motorhome is a complete loss, and two other RVs had heat exposure damage. The owner of the RV was not injured.
