Glendale Gone But Not Forgotten

In May of 2005, the City of Glendale opted to contract with the Denver Fire Department to provide fire service to their municipality. Eighteen years later, firefighters at Denver Fire Station 5 in Glendale are paying homage to their history by displaying a plaque and several other historical items on the walls inside the building. Four former Glendale Fire Department firefighters, Todd Marquand, Bob Christoffersen, John Vasquez and Fred Bailey stopped by Station 5 on April 22nd, 2023 to view the items and have coffee with the crew. DFD Engine 5, formerly Glendale Engine 111, a 2002 Pierce Dash, was recently removed from front line service and is currently a reserve. The engine, which is slated to be replaced in 2024, is the last Glendale unit still in the Denver fleet.
