Byers Garage Fire

On May 4th, 2024 at 17:38 Byers Fire Protection District and the I-70 Corridor responded to a residential structure fire in the 67000 block of E. 48th Ave. south of Byers. Brush Engine 71 reported large plume in the air from Hwy. 36 and the call was upgraded to a working structure fire. Dispatch advised that 911 caller reporting a garage fire well involved extending into the residents. A strike team was requested from Aurora Fire with the heavy winds. Brush Engine 71 arrived to a working garage fire with fully involved extending into the house and pulled a attack line in. Crews found fire into the attic area of the home that extended from the garage. Firefighters worked with a partial collapse and a propane tank venting with heavy fire which spread to the vegetation and hay bales. Crews were on scene for several hours with overhaul and the investigation. No injures were reported and the cause is unknown at this time.
