South Metro Structure Fire
On June 9th, 2024 at 18:09 South Metro Emergency Communications Center dispatched South Metro Fire Rescue to a reported residential structure fire in the 7700 block of Running Fox Way in the Pinery with mutual-aid from Franktown Fire Protection District, Elizabeth Fire Protection District and Castle Rock Fire & Rescue. Chief 13 arrived on scene in command to a two-story with a working attic fire and Engine 184 arrived and stretched an 1 3/4 line to the 2nd floor and attacked the fire from the interior. Engine 43 arrived and assigned with the water supply to Engine 184, Medic 46 assisted with fire attack and Medic 41 with medical. Engine 41 pulled a 2nd 1 3/4 attack line to the Delta side off Engine 184. Crews worked heavy fire through the roof and crews withdraw from the structure and the incident was switched to defensive strategy. Tower 45 started master stream operations and a large section of roof and burning attic trusses fell into the second floor and down to the first floor of the home. The fire was put under control within an hour into the fire and crews worked several hours to safely extinguish hot spots.
