Silver Plume Defensive Structure Fire
Clear Creek Defensive Fire
On February 15th, 2026 around 14:35 Jeffcom 911 dispatched Clear Creek Fire Authority and Clear Creek EMS to a working structure fire in the 1000 block of Willis St. in Silver Plume. Clear Creek County Sherriff’s Office was first on scene, at a two-story house on Willis St. that was fully engulfed. Officers also reported that no people were located at the scene, which allowed arriving fire crews to attack the fire in full defensive mode. The fire is reported to have started as a structure fire and spread to nearby vegetation which a wildland response was requested at 15:49. The fire caused the house to collapse in on itself, and a backhoe was used to move debris, allowing fire crews to extinguish underlying materials. During this work, a natural gas line was ruptured. All personnel were cleared from fire ground, until the gas line could be shut down. The house is a total loss, but crews worked hard to save other near by structures and the hotshot crews kept the vegetation fire from spreading. Xcel repaired a burned over-head electrical line, and later shut off the natural gas to the effected area. No injuries were reported.
