Castle Rock Defensive Fire
At 03:51 on May 13th, 2026 Douglas Regional 911 Communications Center received multiple 911 callers reporting a building on fire at 600 Jerry St. in Downtown Castle Rock. Castle Rock Fire Rescue Department had responded to the same location about 28 hours earlier for a suspicious structure fire. First arriving Battalion 151 observed a large volume of fire showing from the Charlie side of Hideaway Bar & Grill with an adjacent exposure. Due to fire conditions and a previous fire in the building, a defensive strategy was declared. Quint 151 began fire attack and tied into a hydrant at the entrance to the parking lot. Engine 152 established a second water supply at Sixth St. and Jerry St, and positioned on the Delta side of the fire building and used their deck gun to protect the Charlie-1 exposure at 695 Jerry St. Engine 153 established a third water supply near Eighth St. and Jerry St. and laid into the Charlie side of the building for fire attack. Chief 151 assisted at the command post, Safety 151 assumed incident safety responsibilities, conducted a 360º and Chief 152 took the Charlie side. Companies worked for about 20 minutes to knock down all visible fire and the incident was placed under control at 05:40. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect around 04:30 near Betty St. and Wells St. That person was transported to Castle Rock Adventist Hospital. Castle Rock Fire Rescue, Castle Rock Police Department and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control are investigating the fire.
