Sable Altura Hazmat Response

On June 30th, 2026 at approximately 09:40 Sable Altura Fire Rescue was dispatched to the Waste Management Denver East Recycling Facility, 24755 E. Quincy Ave. for a reported hazardous materials incident. The reporting party reported that an unknown substance was irritating employees inside the facility. Several neighboring departments were dispatched to assist. Firefighters made entry into the building and determined that the irritant was caused by a punctured aerosol can inside the facility. Crews were on scene about an hour locating and neutralizing the hazard. No injuries were reported.
