Elk Creek Fire Protection District (ECFPD), covered 98 square miles in Jefferson & Park Counties (Colorado) including the areas of Aspen Park, Bailey, Beeler Park, Broken Arrow Acres, Bucksnort, Chilton, Conifer, Conifer Meadows, Conifer Mountain, Conifer Park Estates, Conifer Village, Evergreen, Evergreen Meadows, Glen Elk, Gleneck, Green Valley Ranch, Highland Pines, Kings Valley, Krogh Ranch, Marcliff Ranchos, Monte Verde, Myers Ranch, Newton Park, Pine Junction, Richmond Hill, Shaffer’s Crossing, Silver Springs, Sphinx Park, Sunny Acres, Sunset Trail, Wamblee Valley, Wandcrest & Will o’ Wisp. Elk Creek Fire Protection District was originally formed in 1948 as a volunteer bucket brigade, as later the Elk Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Elk Creek Fire Department, and eventually becoming the Elk Creek Fire Protection District. The 285 Wildland Team was established in the early 1990’s and known as the “285 Wildcats” consisting of members from all of the 285 corridor fire departments. The Elk Creek Wildland Suppression Module was formed in 2017. The Conifer Wildland Division was officially launched in 2021 through an intergovernmental agreement with North Fork Fire Protection District and Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District. In 2023 the Wildland Division was certified as a Type 2 Fire Module, making it only the second nonfederal resource to obtain this classification.
Elk Creek Fire Protection District was also known as Elk Creek Fire-Rescue.
Elk Creek Fire Protection District was part of the 285 corridor fire departments and has an auto-aid / or mutual-aid agreements with Evergreen Fire Protection District, Indian Hills Fire Protection District, Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District, North Fork Fire Protection District & Platte Canyon Fire Protection District.
Elk Creek Fire Protection District merged into one unified district in 2025 as the Conifer Fire Protection District with North Fork Fire Protection District and Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District.
