At 19:30 on April 2nd, 2018 crews 1 were dispatched to 2517 Antero Ct. for a residential structure fire. RP reported a field on fire near a shop and ATVs. Units were rerouted to an updated address of 367 ½ Rosevale Rd. after additional information indicated the fire was on the east side of the canal. Engine 1 advised incoming units of heavy flames showing from Grand Ave. while enroute. Engine 1 arrived with heavy fire and structures threatened and positioned for structure protection. Battalion 1 arrived and positioned in front of 369 Rosevale Rd. and established Rosevale Command. Battalion 1 requested the Mesa County Wildland Team and two more engines from mutual aid. Engine 5 was assigned North Division. Engine 3 reported All Clear Primary Search on the garages threatened and Battalion 1 requested command staff response. Engine 1 reported 8 cars, 3 large propane tanks supplying a house and the house itself immediately threatened and requested next available unit to assist with water supply. Engine 103 was relocated to the north to control fire flaring up adjacent to the structure involved and pushing toward Rosevale Road at a quick pace with heavy embers. At approximately 19:50 a mutual aid request was made county wide for additional resources. At 20:04 a page was sent out to off-duty GJFD personnel to re-man stations during the fire and bring in additional apparatus.
