Mountain View Structure Fire

On August 18th, 2025 at 13:52 Mountain View Fire Rescue, Lafayette Fire Department and Boulder Rural Fire Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire in the 11200 block of Lookout Rd. in Boulder County. Boulder County Communications (1800) received multiple calls on a fully involved structure fire and Battalion 425 requested to fill the box with smoke in the air. Engine 204 arrived to a fully involved outbuilding and started fire attack in the defensive mode and structure protection with fire spreading toward the home nearby with neighbors pulling garden hoses to try to stop it. Battalion 425 arrived and took Lookout command and requested a brush truck with an associated grass fire. Firefighters and law enforcement were able to help evacuate residents and animals including goats, horses and chickens to safety. As additional crews arrived on scene, they were able to hook to the hydrant on the corner of N. 113th St. and Lookout Rd. After establishing a water supply firefighters were able to start working on the main structure fire in the outbuilding which housed an unused pool. Wind picked up a little while crews were working and the fire spread to a nearby field, but firefighters kept the spread in check and limited the grass fire to about a half an acre. The fire was put under control at 14:19 and crews started an extended overhaul and investigation. The main home damage was limited to charring on the siding, window sills, and a few blown out windows. Investigators determined that the homeowner had an unlicensed fire in a drained pool outbuilding and thought the fire was out, but as the breeze picked up it may of carried embers up and then spread to the outbuilding itself.
