Indian Peaks Prescribed Burn

The week of March 10th, 2025 Lafayette Fire Department with Louisville Fire Protection District, Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, Coal Creek Canyon Fire Protection District and Mountain View Fire Rescue held multiple prescribed fires in the Indian Peaks Golf Course keeping the Bullhead Gulch ditch clear and healthy. All of the burns were safely controlled and conducted by trained professionals, with safety as the top priority. All the burns were very successful in reducing dry vegetation and improving animal habitat. The burns are crucial for improved water flow, removing debris and buildup, ensuring water moves efficiently, ecosystem health for promoting the growth of native plants and creating healthier habitats and reducing fire risk by clearing dry vegetation, it minimizes the fuel load and reduces the risk of uncontrolled fires.
