On September 4th, 2025 at 12:33 Arvada Fire Protection District Tower 57 responded to a reported outside fire in the 16400 block of W. 82nd Ave. in Leyden. Jeffcom 911 updated the call as a house on fire with a possible party inside and several cats and a dog inside and a structure fire response was requested. Tower 57 arrived to find a two-story single-family with an exterior fire all around the house and extending to the brush. Engine 59 arrived and secured the water supply to Tower 57 and the fire was changed to defensive operations. Battalion 53 assumed command and requested a separate brush fire response and full alarm structure protection with structures being threatening on the hillside. Brush Engine 59 arrived and assigned on W. 84th Ave. with the structure protection group. Jefferson County Sheriff deputies evacuated the neighborhood and the areas of Leyden Rock, Leyden Ranch and on W. 84th Ave were placed on mandatory evacuations from Quaker Circle and Quartz St. The fire was put under control within an hour and crews worked on an extended overhaul on hot spots into the next morning. The cause of the fire is under investigation and fire was reported to burn around 10 to 13 acres. Urban-wildfire interface mitigation within the Arvada community with at least a 10-foot mowed section from their property line or fence helped stopped the spread of the fire from getting into the fences or damaging homes.
