North Metro Fire Chief David Ramos Retirement Ceremony
Fire Chief Ramos Retirement Ceremony
On July 22nd, 2025 North Metro Fire Rescue District Fire Chief David Ramos took his final steps as fire chief and enter retirement after a 40 year career as part of a special retirement ceremony held at North Metro Fire Station 61 in Broomfield. Colleagues, district board members, family and friends all gathered for brief remarks highlighting Chief Ramos’ numerous contributions and accomplishments during his career. Following remarks, North Metro Fire personnel lined up creating a pathway for Chief Ramos to walk through and accept a special department flag flown over the fire station on his last day. Music was performed by a bagpipe player and North Metro Fire’s honor guard facilitate the walk-off ceremony.
During his time as chief, Ramos led North Metro Fire to better financial stability while improving emergency response, strengthening regional partnerships and enhancing firefighter safety. A local to the area, Ramos joined North Metro Fire when it was the West Adams County Fire Department in 1984, which changed in 1999 to the North Metro Fire Authority and then in 2000 to the current North Metro Fire Rescue District. Ramos followed the footsteps of his older brother, Mike Ramos, who worked for the neighboring fire department Adams County Fire Rescue. Ramos worked his way up the ranks from firefighter to lieutenant and on to the Battalion Chief, spending more than 25 years on the line serving the community. In 2009, he was promoted to deputy chief and served in administration before being selected by the board in 2014 to fill North Metro Fire’s highest ranking role Fire Chief. He served as a leader on numerous regional committees, including the Colorado Firefighter Heart and Cancer Benefits Trust, North Area Chiefs, Denver Metro Chiefs, Adams Jefferson County Hazardous Response Authority, ADCOM Board and the E-911 Authorities.
