Shoshoni Campground Wildfire
At 18:59 on November 10th, 2025 Gilpin County Communication Center dispatched Timberline Fire Protection District to multiple reports of a wildfire in the area of 1400 Shoshoni Camp Rd. with numerous 911 calls from residents north and east of the location, indicating visibility of smoke and flames. With auto-aid agreements in place for wildland fires activated responses. Black Hawk Communications Center dispatched Black Hawk Fire, Boulder County Communications dispatched Nederland Fire Protection District, and Jeffcom 911 (Central Fire Dispatch) dispatched Golden Gate Fire Protection District to the scene. Crews arrived on the scene locating the fire approximately 400 yards into the forest. The fire measured about 100 feet by 100 feet, with flames reaching heights of up to 15 feet. A west wind was blowing at 10-15 miles per hour was pushing the fire toward the east. Initial crews quickly established a containment line around the fire to prevent further spread while others were locating access for fire trucks and water tenders. The fire was officially contained at 20:19 and crews remained on-site until 23:00 addressing hot spots and a stump pile within the fire perimeter. Timberline Fire and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) returned at 08:00 in the morning of November 11th, 2025 to check for hot spots and address hazardous trees. This incident remained active for several days which involved multiple daily checks to ensure there are no additional hot spots before the fire is officially declared extinguished.
