At 18:25 on June 6th, 2026 Castle Rock Fire & Rescue Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 1800 block of Avery Way in the Meadows neighborhood. 911 callers reported to the Douglas Regional 911 Communications Center that a propane tank involved against house with concerns that it would explode and a plume of smoke was visible companies responded. First arriving Quint 155 found a large volume of fire on the Bravo side melting siding on the Bravo-1 exposure and deployed a 1 3/4 attack line for transitional attack while securing a water supply. The initial line was effective at controlling the exterior flames and protecting the exposure, but pressurized fire was significant challenge. Engine 154 forced entry into the garage where flames were consuming the trusses, extending over the front door. Crews transitioned the soffits and made entry where primary searches were completed in the walk-out basement, first and second floor.  Quint 151 cut two vertical ventilation holes while companies inside worked to control the well involved attic space. Crews operated in the offensive strategy for the duration of the incident and brought the incident under control around 20:00. No injuries occurred and one cat was rescued and reunited with its humans. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
