Westminster Natural Gas Explosion
At 11:35 on November 11th, 2013 Westminster Fire Department was alerted to a possible explosion in the 9300 block of Ingalls St. Dispatch advised that other emergency communications centers in the metro area were receiving calls on the explosion. Crews arrived in the area to find two heavily damaged homes with fire and numerous other exposures damaged. Primary and secondary searches proved clear in the damaged properties. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. The North Area Technical Rescue Team responded to secure the damaged structures and conduct more detailed searches. Colorado Task Force 1 Urban Search & Rescue with the K-9 Team also conducted searches all providing negative for human life. Some injuries were reported. A number of alive and deceased animals were removed from the scene. The area of W. 92nd Ave. to W. 96th Ave. from Pierce St. to Westminster Blvd. were evacuated.
