Colfax Strip Mall Attic Fire

On February 24th, 2015 at 15:10 West Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a confirmed commercial structure fire at 9655 W. Colfax Ave. with initial 911 caller reporting an attic fire that could not be put out, and a second 911 caller reported smoke showing from the outside of the building. Engine 2 arrived and sized up a 3 level strip mall with smoke showing from the roof and set-up on the Charlie side. District 1 arrived and assumed Colfax command, and assigned Engine 3 as RIT and Tower 3 to assist crews inside for searches. Engine 1 and Engine 4 worked the interior, and Tower 10 staged on Colfax and assisted Tower 3 with roof operations. A small attic fire was quickly located and coordinated vertical ventilation with fire attack took place. Once it was determined that there was no lateral extension, the incident was placed under control. Crews worked an extended post control overhaul. No injuries were reported and the fire cause is under investigation.
