Westminster Apartment Fire

Around 22:30 on June 30th, 2015 Westminster Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 7155 Newton St with auto-aid from Adams County Fire Rescue. Engine 1 arrived to a 2-story apartment building with fire showing on the outside of the Alpha-Bravo corner, extending inside the walls. Engine 1 took command, and began fie attack from the exterior. Battalion 2 arrived and assumed command, and requested an additional Engine & Medic to the scene. Medic 1 advanced another attack line to the second floor, Engine 2 secure the water supply and Truck 2 assigned to ladder the roof and prepare for ventilation. Engine 3 searched the first floor with Engine 2 of the 75 x 100 building, starting at opposite ends. Fire extension was found in the Alpha-Bravo corner of the second floor, which was quickly extinguished. Truck 2 started ventilation on the roof, and Engine 1 continued to work the exterior mansard. Engine 12 & Medic 12 were assigned to positive pressure, and a 3rd attack line was pulled to the Alpha side. Battalion 11 arrived ans assigned as Safety, and Truck 2 reported flames showing from the roof. After vertical ventilation and all searches were completed, smoke conditions began to intensify, crews were removed from the structure. Safety reported the fire moving from the Bravo toward the Delta side through the void space. A second water supply was established to Truck 2, and the aerial was raised in preparation for master stream operations. Crews opened the mansard in multiple locations to gain control of the fire. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
