Camp Ember was held from June 3rd to June 6th, 2021, the 4 day, and 3-night camp is an immersive fire based camp building essential skills in young women between the ages of 16 to 18 years-old for bold and bright futures. Camp Ember is hosted by Red Rocks Community College, Arvada Fire Protection District, and West Metro Fire Rescue. The weather got hotter later in the week, but these ladies showed their toughness and strength while learning a number of skills and trainings, like search and rescue, forced entry, fire hose handling and more! Congratulations to each and every one who graduated from camp this week. The group is mentored by female firefighters from across the metro area including Arvada Fire Protection District, Boulder Fire-Rescue Department, Denver Fire Department, Pleasant View Fire Department, South Metro Fire Rescue, and West Metro Fire Rescue.
