West Metro Apartment Fire

On September 30th, 2022 at 23:53  West Metro Fire Rescue to a reported structure fire in the 900 block of S. Miller Way in Lakewood. Jeffcom advised of multiple callers with smoke from the 2nd floor. Engine 3 arrived to a small two-story multi-family apartment structure with a working fire and pulled a 1 3/4 line in fire attack and Medic 3 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 3. Medic 2 arrived and assisted with secured the water supply to Engine 3 and then assigned as medical. District 2 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy, assigned Engine 7 with the primary search on the 2nd floor and Rescue 10 with search on the 1st floor. Tower 8 checked for extension to the attic and Engine 8 as RIT. The fire was put under control at 00:17. The fire was contained to the one unit, with heavy damage. During fire operations, a water pipe burst in the building, creating water damage to other units. Six people were displaced, and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross was requested to the scene in finding housing for those residents that were displaced. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
