Fatal Mobile Home Fire
At 10:28 on June 11th, 2021 Pleasant View Fire Department, Golden Fire Department and Fairmount Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire at the Mountainside Estates Mobile Home Park on Mt. Vernon Rd. in West Pleasant View. Jeffcom (Central Fire Dispatch – CNF) advised that a possible party was still inside the structure, and Jefferson County Sheriff deputies were on scene. Engine 41 arrived on F St. to a confirmed structure fire from a double wide trailer with heavy smoke showing from all sides, pulled a 1 3/4 line in for fire attack and started primary search. Chief 41 arrived and assumed command, and requested additional medic and assigned Battalion 30 as safety. Engine 21 arrived and secured the water supply to Engine 41, and assisted with fire attack. Crews reported heavy fire from the Charlie side, and Engine 31 pulled a 2nd line to the Charlie side and assisted with the primary search. Tower 21 secured a 2nd water supply, and Engine 17 went to the Alpha-Bravo corner for fire attack. A Jefferson County Sheriff deputy and two firefighters were transported to a local hospital with smoke and fire-related injuries, all three were inquired when they were trying to rescue the occupant, which was confirmed a fatality. Crews were able to get the fire under control and started an extended overhaul. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
