Golden Fatal House Fire

At 05:20 on January 13th, 2022 Jeffcom (Central Fire Dispatch – CNF) dispatched Golden Fire Department with auto-aid from Pleasant View Fire Department and Fairmount Fire Protection District to a structure fire in the 17400 block of W. 17th Place with multiple callers. Golden Police officers arrived on scene with a fully involved house on fire with flames through the roof of an attached garage. Engine 21 arrived to a small one-story residential with a fully involved garage with two involved vehicles on fire parked in the driveway, and started exterior fire attack and secured their own water supply on W. 17th Place and Rimrock Drive. Truck 41 arrived, pulled a 2 1/2 line off Engine 21 and assisted with fire attack and transitional attack. Chief 23 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side, assigned Truck 31 with a 2nd water supply, Engine 32 with additional hose line, and Tower 21 with master stream ops. Command requested West Metro Fire Rescue to respond to assist. Crews were unable to advance into the structure due to hoarding conditions, and the fire spread into the attic space involving the living area of the home. The fire was put under control and crews started an extensive overhaul and investigation. and the Fairmount Fire Protection District F.A.S.T. Team (Fairmount Aerial Support Team) was requested with the drone which flew over the home to get an aerial view. Investigators found one victim dead inside as a result of the fire.
