Dan Snyder Retirement Ceremony
On December 13th, 2024 Pleasant View Fire Department held a ceremonial walk off at Station 41 for lieutenant Dan Snyder. Members of Golden Fire Department, Fairmount Fire Protection District, Arvada Fire Protection District, and the Arvada Fire Department Honor Guard also attended the ceremony. Dan dedicated 27 years to the fire service and search-and-rescue teams. He was awarded a medal of Valor in 2008 from Arvada Fire Protection District for actions taken during the rescue of a civilian during a fire. In 2012, he received a letter of Commendation from CO-TF1 Task Force Leader for actions as a Search Team Manager in planning and execution of the successful missing person search in the aftermath of the Lower North Fork Fire, Colorado. Additionally, Dan was deployed on many search-and-rescue missions including hurricane Katrina, Irma, and Maria. He started in the fire service in 1997 at Black Hawk Fire Department. In 1999, he volunteered with the Arvada Fire Protection District, career Firefighter/EMT from 2000 to 2011, and Fire Lieutenant from 2011 to 2018. Colorado Task Force 1 (CO-TF1) from 2004 to 2016, International USAR Team Global DIRT (Disaster Immediate Response Team) from 2014 to 2019, and Pleasant View Fire Department from 2021 to December 13th, 2024. Lieutenant Snyder found a home at Pleasant View for the last years of his career and will miss the camaraderie of the crew he helped build with both real and proverbial blood, sweat, and tears. He was especially passionate about training and building a strong team culture. In retirement, Dan plans to move to the mountains with his wife, to travel the world, and have multiple biking, skiing, and mountain adventures. He also looks forward to visiting friends and family.
