E-470 Vegetation Fires

On September 15th, 2024 at approximately 13:30 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire on eastbound E-470 just east of Parker Rd. Crews arrived on scene and found a small slow moving grass fire on the south side of the highway. Firefighters were on scene about thirty minutes extinguishing the fire and mopping up. As crews were wrapping up, another grass fire was reported a mile east on the north side of the road. Crews spent another thirty minutes at that site. In all, firefighters found four ignition points at the two fires. A person was taken into custody near Gartrell and E-470. No injuries were reported.
