Denver Carbon Monoxide Leak

At 19:02 on March 15th, 2014 Denver Fire Department was alerted to the Noodles & Company at 1460 16th St. for parties feeling ill possibly from carbon monoxide poisoning. Crews arrived on scene and started to investigate and evacuate the restaurant. Firefighters came into contact with 9 people complaining of symptoms and who had tested positive for high blood saturation with levels averaging between 15% to 28%. 5 of the 9 patients needed to be treated in the hyperbolic chamber. The restaurant had levels at 140 or above. The next door restaurant Chipotle and the apartments above the restaurant all tested with high levels of carbon monoxide. With the help of property security, firefighters inspected every unit for levels and sick parties. Most units tested low or at 0 and did not need to be evacuated. One pet did show symptoms of poisoning. The building was ventilated and turned over to property management and Xcel. It is believed a water heater which was not burning correctly was putting out the CO leak.
