Confined Space Rescue
On January 1st, 2025 at approximately 15:35 South Metro Fire Dispatch dispatched Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue to a reported confined space rescue at a decommissioned Titan Missile Facility on S. Imboden Rd. east of Aurora Reservoir. Crews arrived on scene and determined that a teenage boy had fallen about forty feet down an exhaust tunnel. Two Sable Altura firefighters were lowered into the tunnel, examined the boy’s injuries and secured him into a harness for extraction. Crews from Bennett-Watkins, Sable Altura, South Metro and Deer Trail were on scene almost three hours conducting the confined space rescue. The patient was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.
