Multi-Agency Training Exercise
On August 6th, 2025 a full-scale emergency readiness exercise was held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 15200 W. 6th Ave. in Golden. The incident began with emergency calls to Jeffcom 911 dispatch. The first on scene Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who encountered dozens of volunteers with realistic-looking injuries. Their assignment: to locate the “suspect” and stop the threat so that firefighters and medical crews could safely enter the scene and treat and transport the “patients” to local hospitals. Every radio call, every movement, and every decision made by those on the ground was closely watched by evaluators. The goal of this exercise was to find what works, what doesn’t, and how everyone can improve their response to keep the communities we serve safe. Patient actors with realistic-looking wounds were involved. Thirty came to Lutheran Hospital by helicopter, ambulance and walk-ins, which the teams mobilized, set up an incident command, and worked together to safely transport and treat the patients.
