Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District (ICFPD), covered 52 square miles in Jefferson County (Colorado) including the areas of Aspen Park, Bear Creek Vesa, Critchell, Deer Creek Canyon, Deer Creek Mesa, Deer Creek Mountain Park, Deermont, Doubleheader Mountain, Doubleheader Ranch, Fenders, Fender Junction, Golden Meadows, Hilldale Pines, Hill View, Homestead, Homewood Park, Kuehster, Littleton, Lone Pine Estates, McKinney Ranch, Meyer Ranch Open Space, Mill Creek, Morrison, Mount Lindo, North Turkey Creek, Parmalee Gulch, Phillipsburg, Pike National Forest, Pleasant Park, Pyramid Peak, Plymouth Mountain, Sampson Mountain, Silver Ranch Estates, South Turkey Creek Canyon, Switzers Gulch, Tiny Town, Twin Forks, Warren Peak, West Ranch, White Deer Valley & Wilds Peak. Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District was originally formed in 1954 when homeowners and tenants in the South Turkey Creek, North Turkey Creek and Deer Creek Canyons came together to discuss the creation of a local fire squad, and the name was chosen as the Inter-Canyon Fire Company. In 1956 the Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District was formed. The 285 Wildland Team was established in the early 1990’s and known as the “285 Wildcats” consisting of members from all of the 285 corridor fire departments. The Conifer Wildland Division was officially launched in 2021 through an intergovernmental agreement with Elk Creek Fire Protection District and North Fork Fire Protection District. In 2023 the Wildland Division was certified as a Type 2 Fire Module, making it only the second nonfederal resource to obtain this classification.
Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District was part of the 285 corridor fire departments and has an auto-aid / or mutual-aid agreements with Elk Creek Fire Protection District, Evergreen Fire Protection District, Indian Hills Fire Protection District, North Fork Fire Protection District & Platte Canyon Fire Protection District.
Inter-Canyon Protection District merged into one unified district as the Conifer Fire Protection District in 2025 with Elk Creek Fire Protection District and North Fork Fire Protection District.
