Sugar Mill Rescue

On October 12th, 2025 at 23:13 Mountain View Fire Rescue and Boulder Rural Fire Rescue responded to the Sugar Mill, 11801 Sugar Mill Rd. after  Boulder County Communications (1800) received a call from someone saying they had fallen inside the abandoned building. Engine 201 got to the scene first and started the investigation and how to search the property. Emergency crews wound up using a Longmont Police Department’s drone to help locate the patient who had fallen about 20 feet, but was in a challenging area to make access. Crews had to use a rescue saw to cut through a steel garage door to reach the patient and remove them safely from the property. The patient was taken by Medic 323 to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The building is the former Great Western Sugar Factory and the Longmont Sugar Mill which have had several fires in the past including September of 2016, December 25th, 2017, December 9th, 2020August 25th, 2024 and March 25th, 2025.
