Franktown Structure Fire

On December 22nd, 2025 at approximately 05:20 Douglas Regional 911 Communications Center dispatched Franktown Fire Protection District and Elizabeth Fire Protection District to a reported residential structure fire at 1184 Deerpath Rd. in Franktown. Engine 181 arrived on scene and found heavy fire coming from the garage of a multi-story single family residence. Crews had to be extra cautious after learning that there was ammunition in the garage and moved to defensive operations after part of the roof collapsed above the garage. Additional assistance was summoned from neighboring departments. Crews were on scene about three hours extinguishing the fire, mopping up hot spots and conducting overhaul. No serious inquiries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
