Boulder Canyon Vegetation Fire

At 09:19 on August 20th, 2026 Boulder Police & Fire Communications (9100) dispatched Boulder Fire-Rescue Department to the report of a small grass in the trees and grass on the north side of the intersection between Boulder Canyon Drive and Arapahoe Ave. at Peoples’ Crossing in West Boulder. Battalion 143 arrived to a active vegetation fire on the slope of Boulder Canyon moving uphill to the west in the trees and requested additional units to the scene. Engine 143 arrived and pulled a line in with Brush 141 and secured the water supply with Interface 323. The fire was quickly put under control and crews worked on hot spots for several hours. All the trails in Sunshine, Red Rocks and Anemone Loop were closed. Canyon Drive west of 6th St. was also closed during the incident. An evacuation warning was also requested for the area which included parts of Boulder Canyon and Sunshine Canyon. The fire burned a half an acre. There were no injuries reported and no structures impacted. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Longmont Fire Department, Lafayette Fire Department, Louisville Fire Protection District & Mountain View Fire Rescue backfilled the district.
