
Fox Hollow Golf Course Lightning Strike Vegetation Fire

At 17:51 on June 30th, 2026 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a lightning strike at the Fox Hollow Golf Course, 13410 W. Morrison Rd in Lakewood. Jeffcom 911 advised that one person was stuck by lightning and now a grass fire has started by the sixth hole. Engine 10 arrived with Medic 10 on Morrison Rd. and S. Wright Way where the patient was transported by a golf cart. Engine 9 and Brush 9 arrived to a slow moving grass fire and make access from Morrison Rd. District 2 arrived and requested a full strike team of five type 6 brush trucks to the scene. Staging was located at the club house and crews were transported on golf carts to the grass fire with limited access. Medic 10 transported one patient to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The lightning ignited a pocket of dead, dry grass, brush, and downed trees in a rough area of the course and staging was located at the club house and some crew members were transported on golf carts to the grass fire with limited access. The fire was contained to approximately 2 acres, and no structures were threatened. During mop up operations, crews used a drone equipped with infrared technology to locate hidden pockets of heat, helping ensure the fire is completely extinguished.
