Strasburg Rail Car Training
The Strasburg Fire Protection District hosted a rail care training class at Station 81 on February 20th, 2026. The class which was presented by the All Hazards Training Center at the University of Findlay is designed to educate first responders on freight rail care incidents involving hazardous materials such as crude oil, ethanol and other flammable liquids. The training included classwork and hands on scenarios using a rail car simulator. First responders from Adams County Fire Rescue, Bennet-Watkins Fire Rescue, Brighton Fire Rescue District, Byers Fire Protection District, Grand Lake Fire Protection District, Greeley Fire Department, Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District, Rampart Search & Rescue Team, Strasburg and the Colorado State Patrol participated in the training.
