Indian Head Brush Fire

Around 13:00 on October 20th, 2011 Fairmount Fire Protection District was alerted to a interface fire threatening structures on Indian Head Rd. off Hwy. 93 in Jefferson County. Crews arrived to a brush fire in heavy winds moving to other structures, and a fully involved vehicle. Command requested mutual-aid from other departments, and with no hydrants nearby Tender 31 arrived and started to shuttle water. A portable tank was set up and Engine 33 was used to draft and pump. The brush fire was completely contained and crews stayed on scene through the afternoon to ensure that no flare-ups occur. One vehicle was destroyed, no structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
