Sawmill Gulch Fire

Around 15:00 on March 3rd, 2012 Foothills Fire Protection District responded to a wildland fire off I-70 near Lookout Mountain in Jefferson County. Crews arrived and found a wind-driven fire off Grapevine Rd. & Sawmill Gulch Rd. which was quickly burning in rugged terrain, and command on scene requested for more resources. Crews got the fire contained to over 30 acres by 22:00 but stayed overnight until the next morning with hot spots. No structures were threatened and the cause is unknown.
