Glencoe Valley Fire

Around 14:20 on August 19th, 2013 a wind-driven brush fire in the Coal Creek Canyon area in Jefferson County was reported after a 911 caller reported hearing an pop before the fire started.  Crews from several fire departments responded with also about 12,500 gallons of water drops from a helicopter. The residents from Blue Mountain Estates were evacuated as of Coal Creek Canyon. Crews got control of the fire out in the evening with around 6 acres burned, and crews started overhaul on hot spots until the next morning. The evacuations and were lifted by 20:00. The Salvation Army was requested to provide food and drinks for the firefighters on the scene. No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported. The cause is under investigation.
