South Metro Pagosa Way Structure Fire
South Metro Structure Fire
At 12:55 on June 15th, 2018 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported residential structure fire at 5817 S. Pagosa Way in Centennial. Engine 62 reported smoke in the air while responding and upon arrival they found flames visible from 1st and 2nd floors extending into the eaves. Attack lines were advanced inside to each level and the fire was quickly controlled. Firefighters located 3 dogs inside the home that were overcome by smoke inhalation; canine CPR was attempted but sadly they couldn’t be saved. One Firefighter was transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion and thankfully no one was injured. Due to the very warm temperatures 2 Engines, 2 Medics and 1 Tower over the 1st Alarm response were requested to the scene for additional personnel. A special thanks goes out to the very kind neighbors who welcomed firefighters into their garage to escape a thunderstorm and for sharing their garden hose to assist with Firefighter decon. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
