2nd Alarm Haz-Mat
At 11:55 on January 9th 2019 Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue responded to a commercial fire alarm at 34501 E. Quincy Ave. at S. Watkins Rd. in Arapahoe County, while units enroute 911 caller reporting a fire inside and the call was upgrade to a commercial structure fire at 12:01 with the I-70 corridor. Engine 92 advised that smoke in the air, and MetCom reporting that hazardous materials inside and the call was upgraded to a 2nd Alarm for a structure fire involving hazardous materials. MetCom dispatched South Metro Fire Rescue with multiple units to support their operation. Chief 92 arrived to a large super structure with nothing showing and active alarms with evacuations. Engine 92 arrived and established a water supply, and Chief 92 secured the utilities. Bureau 91 arrived and assigned as safety, Chief 41 assigned as Haz-Mat, and Engine 41 set-up a 2nd water supply. Initial crews quickly determined the fire was out and under control at 12:32, and that Haz-Mat Technicians needed to secure the scene. Some SMFR personnel remained on scene working for approximately 6 hours until the situation was resolved. No injuries were reported.
