On July 21st, 2020 around 01:00 Boone Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center to the area of Hwy. 96 & Yatze Rd. just west of the town of Boone, on a reported structure fire. Units arrived to find a fully involved 2 story abandoned structure and requested mutual-aid from Pueblo Rural Fire Protection District, Pueblo Chemical Depot Fire Department, and Pueblo County Sheriff Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) Fire Team. Command called for tenders and type 6’s due to some wildland involvement. Due to the fire conditions and the structure being abandoned defensive fire ops were chosen and crews began fighting the fire. Due to the older cinder-block construction crews began to deal with collapsing walls. Tender ops were set up supplying engines from Boone and Pueblo Rural. Crews worked an extended time with mop up and overhaul. Additional information provided by Code 4 Photography
