South Metro Gun Club Grass Fire
South Metro Grass Fire
At 12:06 on October 5th, 2020, firefighters from South Metro Fire Rescue, Aurora Fire Rescue, Sable Altura Fire Rescue and Buckley Fire & Emergency Services were dispatched to a grass fire at the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site Landfill, 3500 S. Gun Club Rd. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a grass fire about the size of a football field and two water trucks from a nearby business trying to put it out. Additionally the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Wildland Fire Team, who were training near by, responded to the scene with two brush trucks. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and spent about an hour on scene mopping up hot spots. South Metro Engine 23 had initially been dispatched to the area for a problem with power lines passing through the same field.
