Lakewood House Fire

At 20:21 on March 3rd, 2020 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 1100 block of S. Pierson Ct. in the West Lochwood area. JeffCom advised units en-route possible cause of nature gas with a injured party. Engine 8 arrived to a one-story wood frame house and started a 360 of the structure. District 2 arrived and took over command on the Alpha side in the offensive strategy. Medic 4 arrived and started patient care, and Engine 4 established the water supply to Engine 8. Tower 8 and Engine 3 assisted Engine 8 with fire control and primary search. Engine 3 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 8 to the Charlie side for fire attack. Medic 4 transported one patient to a local hospital, Engine 4 and Medic 10 assigned to assist crews with primary search, and Rescue 10 as RIT. Command requested additional engine and medic to the scene, and Medic 3 arrived and assigned as medical group, and Engine 2 assumed RIT. Firefighters advised the primary search was clear on all floors and the fire was put under control at 20:40. Crews worked for an extended time with overhaul and hot spots. The homeowner was seriously injured, when working on a gas furnace when the gas ignited, causing a flash fire. The fire caused moderate damage on the first floor of the home, with smoke damage throughout the structure. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
