Littleton West Cooper Drive House Fire
West Metro House Fire
At 06:21 on June 5th, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue with auto-aid from South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported house fire in the 12100 block of W. Cooper Drive in Littleton. Jeffcom advised that several 911 callers reporting flames showing. Engine 12 arrived on scene to a fully involved two-story residential, secured their own water supply and pulled a line for fire attack on the Charlie side with Medic 12. Engine 12 pulled a 2nd line in with heavy fire on the 1st and 2nd floors, and Truck 14 assigned with VEIS (Vent-Enter-Isolate-Search) on the Alpha side with possible parties still inside. District 3 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy on the Alpha side, and assigned Engine 13 to pull an 1 3/4 off Engine 12 to protect the Delta exposure. Engine 10 arrived and started search, Tower 8 assigned as RIT and Medic 13 as medical. Truck 14 set-up with aerial operations and South Metro Engine 13 pulled another attack line in for fire attack off Engine 12. The fire was put under control and crews started an extensive overhaul. Five people, two dogs and a turtle were inside. The residents and one dog were able to get out, but the other dog was unable to escape and was found on the second floor, and he did not survive. Firefighters did rescue the turtle. One person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The fire started on the back side of the house under the covered patio, but the cause is still under investigation. Crews responded back out at 13:39 with a rekindle in the attic space and firefighters cleared out additional debris. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
