Aurora 5th Alarm Structure Fire
On December 16th, 2023 at approximately 12:45 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at the Link Apartments Fitz, 12000 E. Colfax Ave. A dark black plume could be seen for miles. Units arrived on scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the fifth floor of a five-story multi-family residential building that was still under construction. Additional alarms were toned and mutual aid was requested from neighboring departments. Firefighters were on scene over several hours into the night battling the blaze from defensive positions. One Aurora firefighter suffered minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital and is recovering. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
