Elk Creek Structure Fire

On November 27th, 2023 at 11:07 Elk Creek Fire Protection District responded to a reported structure fire in the 26700 block of Barkley Rd. in Conifer. Jeffcom advised that Jefferson County Sheriff Deputies on scene reporting active flames from the upper level of the structure and the fire was upgraded to a working structure fire with mutual-aid from Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District. Command 403 arrived to a large two-story residential structure with heavy smoke and fire showing from the 2nd story and requested for Evergreen Fire Protection District to also respond with a water tender. Engine 431 arrived on scene and pulled an attack line in for fire attack in the offensive strategy. Water tender shuttle operations were set-up at the bottom of the driveway. The fire was put under control within 30 minutes and crews started an extended overhaul. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no civilians or firefighters were injured during the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
