Turner Gulch Fire

The Turner Gulch Fire was reported on July 10th, 2025 at 12:18 in the in Unaweep Canyon in Mesa County during a red flag event that was preceded by extensive dry lightning. The fire is under extreme fire conditions. The Upper Colorado River Fire Management Unit Type 3 Incident Management Team managed the fire until July 15th, 2025 at 06:00 when the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 (CIMT1) officially assumed command. The fire burned 31,699 acres as of August 21st, 2025 with 100% containment. The fire was caused by a lightning strike. Additional information provided by InciWeb (Incident Information System)

*Crews from the Turner Gulch Fire also worked the Wright Draw Fire which was burning on the other side of the Unaweep Canyon and that fire burned 466 acres as of August 9th, 2025 with 100% containment and was reported on July 10th, 2025 at 20:09 with the Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 (CIMT1) also in command.
