On July 13th, 2020 around 14:40 Evergreen Fire Rescue responded to a working wildland fire on Upper Bear Creek Rd. with multiple 911 calls reporting 40 to 60 feet flames. Crews arrived to heavy fire burning in steep and rocky terrain, request air support ops and started on structure protection. The fire is currently at 50 acres with 60% containment as of July 15th, 2020. Evacuation are still in place and the areas are from Upper Bear Creek Rd. south to Brook Forest Rd. east to Hwy. 73 including the Elk Meadow Open Space & Alderfer-Three Sisters Open Space which are closed. No injuries and no structures were lost. Evacuation Center is located at the Evergreen Middle School, and the King Murphy Elementary School in Clear Creek County is no longer a evacuation center.
