Arvada Highway 72 Multiple Vegetation Fires
Arvada Vegetation Fire
On August 10th, 2022 at 14:06 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible vegetation fire along Hwy. 72. Jeffcom advised of multiple fires by the railroad tracks and moving south threating structures, and the call was upgraded to a large vegetation fire. Engine 57 and Brush 57 arrived off Hwy. 72 by Indiana St. with several vegetation fires burring. Battalion 52 arrived and assumed command, and structure protection was requested with additional resources and agencies to the scene. Arvada Police Department conducted a limited number of door-to-door evacuations in the Leydon Rock neighborhood. After about an hour, the fire was declared contained and evacuations were lifted and crews worked on hot spots for several hours. At its closest point, the fire was within 100 feet of structures. The fire burned in five different locations and was estimated at 15 acres in cumulative size. No structures were impacted, and no injuries were reported.
