NATRT Rope Rescue Training 2023
Rope Rescue Training
The North Area Technical Rescue Team (NATRT) conducted training the week of August 14th, 2023. After doing confined space and trench rescue training earlier this year, this week has been all about rope rescue. Departments participated in trainings in Thornton which involved practicing rope rescue techniques from a 140 foot water tower and lowering a victim to safety, as well as repelling off the tower. They also simulated a victim falling inside the water tower and then performing a rope rescue through the confined space.
The team NATRT was formed in June of 1995 as a coordinated technical rescue training program and responds to technical rescues in the suburbs north of Denver, The team specializes in rope, confined space, trench and collapse rescues. Adams County Fire Rescue, Arvada Fire Protection District, Brighton Fire Rescue District, Federal Heights Fire Department, Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, Mountain View Fire Rescue, North Metro Fire Rescue District, South Adams County Fire Department, Thornton Fire Department and Westminster Fire Department are all members of the team.
